Here are some photos of Broken Hill. As you can see, the town grew up right near the mine - at least the men didn't have far to go to work! The building on top of the slag heap is the Broken Earth restaurant, where we dined. Excellent view of the town, of course. Broken Hill also boasts some quite elegant buildings, but unfortunately I can only upload a maximum of 5 photos at a time - enough to give you an impression, I guess. (Don't ask me where the 5th photo got to in the upload process! maybe it will miraculously appear when I 'publish this post' - forgive the blogger jargon!)
